One of the first things I heard when I arrived to the Riviera Maya was that it was a place, literally speaking, to get engaged with your loved one: a place to start a new life together. So, a bit shocked by this random comment, a little bug traveler grew inside me to search for those landscapes that irradiate love. All these to have to throw everything away and live the most romantic escape weekend ever.

Holbox

A magical place in the north of Quintana Roo state. In Holbox, you can feel the peace and quietness of being in touch with the wild nature. You can book a cozy cabin at this serene waters and enjoy the view. Also, your significant other and you can take long walks or a bike ride by the beach to Yalahau: an amazing cenote.

Maybe if  you are an adventurous couple, you will have the chance to swim with whale sharks. Make sure to make some time to relax in a hammock overseeing the Caribbean sunset; discover the fluorescent tones of the waves in a perfect date.

Bacalar

Bacalar is the place where you can see all shades of blue and turquoise colors of the lagoon. But, ¿what else makes this a place to remember?  Falling in love at Bacalar is easy, just take a walk through San Felipe’s Fort, swim along with your significant other in the warm waters and take a boat tour to visit different spots of the lagoon.

A romantic and fun idea is to kayak around the lagoon, you can also have a delicious dinner and admire the sunset view resting in your comfortable cottage.

Tulum

Tulum is a Pueblo Mágico that inspires you to explore it from top to bottom; we took on the task of discovering how the magic works, how it manages to charm its visitor’s hearts with its beaches and streets. We found out that magic can be found everywhere you look in this beautiful town, and a good way to enjoy it might be by drinking a fresh mojito at a local bar, or by having an ice cream while walking in the beach during sunset.

We also found great options for couples to enjoy this romantic place, like getting a relaxing massage at a spa, or staying in a cozy bungalow with an enviable view of the Caribbean Sea.

Xcacel

If your ideal romantic date is to be in contact with the sky, ocean and nature, you must visit Xcacel: the perfect beach to surprise the person who steals your dreams. A quite spot in the Riviera Maya for nature lovers, here you can enjoy a glam picnic under a palm tree and take long beach walks. 

This place is a little piece of paradise, where besides having a walk and swimming in its almost unexplored beach, you will find a small but beautiful cenote, an excellent way to give your day a twist of adventure.

Catamaran Sailing

This may be a bit more luxury experience, but it’s really an unforgettable activity. There are plenty options in Cancun and Riviera Maya, one of them is a tour to enjoy a sunset view on the smooth waters of the Nichupte lagoon in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, another one is an adventure feeling the sun and the breeze of the Caribbean Sea touring from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel Island. There are many others where you can jump down to snorkel in the coral reefs.
