Explore Their Careers and Greatest Hits!
Since its formation in 2003, Reik has established itself as one of Mexico's most beloved and successful bands. The trio's unique blend of pop, ballads, and urban rhythms has deeply connected with their audience, generating hits that have left a lasting impact. Songs like “Noviembre Sin Ti,” “Yo Quisiera,” and “Me Niego” have proven that Reik's music transcends borders and generations.
In 2024, Reik will be part of the Life and Death Traditions Festival, where their music will resonate in a setting as iconic as the festival itself. This event pays tribute to one of Mexico's most important traditions and provides an ideal opportunity to enjoy a unique musical experience. Attendees will have the chance to experience the magic of Reik in an environment that blends the cultural richness of the tradition with the energy of the band.
Reik's History
Formed in Mexicali, Baja California in 2003, the band is composed of Jesús Navarro (vocalist), Julio Ramírez (guitarist), and Gilberto "Bibi" Marín (guitarist). Since their inception, Reik has captured hearts with their ability to blend romantic ballads with fresh and modern sounds, propelling them to become one of the most influential groups of their generation.
Members:
Reik was inspired by groups from the Spanish romantic scene, such as Sin Bandera, which for them sounded more “mellow and adult” and they adapted it to a fresher pop sound, inspired by English-speaking bands such as Maroon 5.
In 2005 they released their debut album which has become one of the most iconic Mexican pop albums of the 2000s, the band continued to grow. A year later they came with their second studio material, Secuencia, which once again had an impeccable production by Kiko Cibrian, and contained songs like 'Sabes' and 'Me duele amarte.
Two years later came Un día más which, among many memorable songs, has 'Inolvidable'. With this material, the band won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album by a Duo or Group in 2009. In addition, it began the path of collaborations that would later become part of their DNA, as the album has a song with Maite Perroni, from RBD.
In 2011 Peligro arrived, a material that included a single with the same name, which was a disappointment for Navarro and his bandmates. The vocalist says that when it came out, at a great moment for English-speaking pop with the rise of artists like Katy Perry, the world was still much more segmented.
The importance of reinventing themselves
The band, Reik, took a bold step that led to their continued success. In 2016, they released an urban version of 'Ya me enteré' in collaboration with Nicky Jam as part of their album Des/Amor. This move allowed them to explore new musical territories.
One remarkable aspect of this Mexican band is the strong and enduring relationship they have maintained over the years. Despite the challenges that come with fame, success, and constant decision-making, the band has found ways to overcome adversity. Looking towards the future, Reik has expressed their commitment to exploring new creative concepts and embracing new challenges.
