If your dream is to live on a tropical island in the middle of the Caribbean, this will be useful for you. If not, you will just spend a relaxing time learning the diversity of coconut uses and its importance as a natural resource. In any case, don’t miss the Xcaret Coconut Workshop, located in the Mayan Village and included in your admission to the park. Each session lasts 45 minutes, and you will go home with several tips to take better advantage of the coconut.
If you live somewhere with a beach, you’ve always been surrounded by coconut palms, but, do you know how to open one? It’s not difficult, but it does have its technique so you can take advantage of the pulp and water.
In the Coconut Workshop, the instructor will explain, in addition to valuable information on the palm, the steps to follow to prepare a coconut and to enjoy its fresh flavor.
There are many recipes you can make with coconut pulp. If you have spent your holidays in Cancun and Riviera Maya, you have been offered cold coconut water and fruit with chili and lemon, delicious!
There are many things you can do with the leaf of the coconut palm. In the Coconut Workshop, the instructor will explain the different utilities that have been given to these leaves since time ago, to cover the roofs of huts, houses, and many other decorative items.
If you want to learn how to make a rose with a coconut palm leaf, attend the workshop at 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. Remember that it’s free; it’s included in your park admission.
That’s right, you read well. You will also learn to cook a delicious dessert in the Coconut Workshop. They will also explain how different kitchen utensils are used. You will discover many ways to make the most of this natural resource.
If you want to learn to cook a fresh cocada, attend the workshop at 14:00 hrs. Remember that it’s located in the Mayan Village, near the Chocolate Workshop. Another recommendable activity if you are interested in learning about old Mayan recipes.
Coconut milk has many useful health properties, besides being very tasty. In the workshop, the instructor will explain some records of the coconut's presence on American coasts and the uses that can be given to it nowadays.
Don’t get confused; coconut water and milk are very different. A unique process must be followed to obtain the milk. If you attend the Coco Workshop at 10:00 hrs, you will be able to learn how to do it and taste its rich flavor.
If you come as a family to Xcaret, it will be an educational activity in which everyone will learn things of great value. Remember that it’s important that even young children learn to value our natural resources and their conservation.
Finally, in the Coconut Workshop, you will observe the uses that can be given to each element of the coconut palm. In the Mayan Village, there are products for sale, so I recommend you take cash because you will surely want to take a piece of art of these.
