A brand new attraction has arrived to the Riviera Maya. Xoximilco Cancún. With an initial investment of 222 million pesos, Grupo Xcaret pays homage to south-central Mexico’s Culture by giving the visitor a chance to live a unique experience after dusk.

Xoximilco is a beautiful group of canals traversed by night on picturesque and joyful trajineras* offering the guest an original and fun way to gather with friends and family, as well as providing the opportunity to taste more than 20 representative of Mexico culinary delights accompanied by Mariachi and other typical live music bands, an authentic Mexican party.

This attraction is located 5 minutes away from Cancún International Airport and 35 minutes from Playa del Carmen on the 338km of the Cancún-Chetumal freeway. Xoximilco poses a modern version of the legendary ride along canals, with colors and enchantment of those magical moments that nostalgia evokes.

Where to book

Tickets are sold online or through a travel agency. It is also possible to get there directly prior to reservation. Xoximilco is a family attraction; children from 5 years old upwards are welcome. The first trajinera leaves at 6:00 pm on a 3-hour ride.

Xoximilco has a daily capacity of 1,600 people and opens from Mondays through Saturdays all year long. It has 40 trajineras; 32 representing each Mexican state, one more from Mexico’s Federal District and the rest allusive to Xochimilco, originally a Náhuatl region declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 1987.

*Trajineras are small gondola-like boats modeled after pre-Hispanic vessels called acallis. They house benches along the edges and a long table through the middle. Originally trajineras have names, of women or cities, made out of floral decorations on arches.
