One of the Natural Marvels of Mexico you should visit is and located in the Yucatan Peninsula, in the state of Quintana Roo. I’m talking about Xel-Ha, one of the most important jewels of the southeast of the country, and here I will tell you how to get to this wonderful place. If you are on vacation in the country, or live here and do not know this part of Mexico, you are undoubtedly missing one of the best places in the world.
Thanks to its privileged location, it has incredible views of the Caribbean Sea, a large number of cenotes to explore, a lush jungle, beaches with turquoise water, reefs full of natural life and crystal clear water that you will fall in love with. Without a doubt, you should take a tour in this part of Mexico and visit its many entertainment options.
Xel-Há is a lazy river that forms a cove in which saltwater and freshwater are mixed. In it live multicolored fish, iguanas, birds, and many other animals. You can snorkel the time you want and discover its vast underwater world. If you are already convinced, here I’ll tell you how to get from the main points of this destination.
The main points from which you can get to Xel-Há are Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum. First, I will tell you all the options of how to get to Xel-Há with their respective pros and cons:
In this famous bus terminal, you can buy your round ticket to visit Xel-Há. I recommend you to use the ADO app and buy them with a few days in advance, as they generally have special offers if you buy them this way.
You won’t have to worry about driving
You will be able to sleep during the journeys
They are very punctual in their departures and in their arrivals
You are completely safe on the highway
You can find good prices in their APP
You are not free to stop in other destinations
They tend to be slower because they have controlled speed
There is little flexibility of schedules (there are only one pair to arrive and another pair to leave)
You must transport yourself to the terminal on your own
When you buy your ticket to Xel-Há, you can add transportation to your purchase and indicate in which hotel you will stay in Riviera Maya, Tulum and Cancun. The Xcaret transportation will pick you up at your hotel and take you back. You have to verify that your hotel is included in the programed stops, otherwise, there are nearby points where they can pick you up.
You don’t have to worry about moving somewhere to take the transport
You can sleep during the travel
You will be completely safe in group transportation
You will have a guide at all time that will answer your questions about the park and help you to be better prepared for your day
You are not free to stop at some other destination
It can be slow because transportation must make different stops along the way
There is little flexibility in scheduling (there’s only one pick up hour programed)
Another option is to travel by car. Whether you rent it at the destination or have a family member or friend who can lend you in his car.
You can deviate to make a stop and know another destination.
You will be more comfortable and you can live with you.
It can be more expensive for the rental of the car and gasoline
If you do not know the route, you can get lost (although it is very difficult thanks to technology and that the highway is well signposted)
The return can be heavy because you will surely be exhausted
As you can see, each one has different pros and cons, you can choose the one that suits you best according to the needs of your trip. Personally, I recommend the car. Having the freedom to move as you prefer and being able to visit more places is something that is incomparable and that you will greatly appreciate.
How to get to Xel-Há?
If you are in Cancun, you must arrive at the ADO terminal located in the center of Cancun, on Tulum Avenue and Uxmal Avenue. Any taxi driver or public transport driver can locate you to get there.
If you are in Playa del Carmen, the ADO terminal is located on Av. Benito Juárez, near the maritime terminal. Anyone can locate you to get to it.
If you are in Tulum, ADO is not your best option. Xel-Há is very close to the terminal. Either way, if you decide to take it, you can find it on the main road, on the highway right in the center of the town.
If your hotel is on the Xcaret Group transport pick-up list, you will have nothing to worry about other than being in the lobby on time.
In case your hotel is not on the list of programmed stops, make sure you know how to get to the meeting point and how long it will take you to get there to avoid being late and missing your transportation.
Simply enter ” Xel-Há ” in the Google Maps address search engine or some other map application and the destination will appear:
