65 million years ago, the world was very different. The land was inhabited by large reptiles that made the Earth rumble with their steps. Dinosaurs have been our fascination since childhood, their size and strength have made them the most amazing land animals ever.
Dinosaurs wandered around the planet looking for food, breeding zones, and nesting, which is why fossils can be found in various parts of the world. Mexico is no exception so be prepared to discover the great reptiles that once walked through this amazing country.
With its twenty-seven feet long and three tons of weight, this dinosaur of the Tyrannosauridae family inhabited the region of the states of Baja California, Sonora, and Coahuila. Even with its large size, this dinosaur reached speeds of up to 25 miles per hour.
This dinosaur was one of the today’s birds ancestors. Its fossils were found in the states of Coahuila and Baja California. Its “small” size of only fourteen feet contrasted with the biggest dinosaurs of the era and only weighed 331 lbs.
This species belonged to the titanosaurid family, this dinosaur was a giant of four legs, weighed 33 tons and measured 69 feet in length. It inhabited in the states of Chihuahua and Coahuila.Although traces of a distant cousin of this species have been found in Puebla.
This dinosaur was found in 1970 in La Bocana Roja of Baja California by Harley J. Garbani. It was six meters long and weighing more than a ton. It is believed that he could be related to the great Tyrannosaurus Rex, although to date this data has not been fully confirmed.
The smallest dinosaur of our list was only 4 feet long and weighed 10 kilos. Its fossils have been found in the states of Huizachal Canyon in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.
This dinosaur was twenty feet long and weighed three and a half tons. It had a bone plate and two horns to defend against predators. Its fossils have been found in the states of Chihuahua and Coahuila.
These are just some of the great reptiles that once walked in Mexico. So the next time you travel to the states of the north of Mexico,you must be very attentive because maybe you could discover a new dinosaur.
