A closer look inside the suites at La Casa de la Playa by Xcaret

Welcome to La Casa de la Playa, an adults-only luxury boutique hotel that holds the very best of Mexico within its walls. With just 63 suites, from the moment you walk into the lobby, you know you’ve entered somewhere special—where the warmth of a Mexican home meets the precision of world-class service.

Today, I want to take you on a closer, more personal tour of one of its suites. This is far from a typical hotel room—it’s a space designed with art, comfort, and intention. A space where every corner holds a story, and every detail feels like home. Let’s take a look inside:

Three ways to experience paradise

At La Casa de la Playa, there’s no such thing as a “standard room.” All suites offer an exceptional balance of privacy, comfort, and luxury—but they differ in how you experience the Caribbean from your window.

Beach Front Suite: Direct access to the beach. Wake up, take a few steps… and your feet are in the sand.

Ocean View Suite: Enjoy glimpses of the sea through the lush vegetation, right from your bed. A partial view, but just as magical.

Ocean Front Suite: Nothing stands between your terrace and the turquoise waters—just you and the sea.

And if you're looking to take your stay to another level, all three categories are available in a Wellness version. These suites feature a private massage cabin with direct access from your room and a built-in steam system in the shower. Like having your own spa—just a few steps from the bed.

Design with Mexican soul

Each suite at La Casa de la Playa is more than a room—it’s a living gallery. Every piece has been carefully chosen not just to look beautiful, but to tell a story—of hands, traditions, and communities that bring each space to life.

The Onyx Lamp

Crafted by artisans in Puebla, this spiral-shaped lamp is made from natural onyx. Each one is unique, just like the seashells it was inspired by. The light filters through softly, filling the space with a warm, serene glow. It’s a quiet tribute to the beauty and diversity of Mexican nature.

The Huichol Winged Heart

One of the most striking pieces in the room—hand-beaded with colorful chaquira beads. It reflects the worldview of the Wirrárika people, where nature and the divine are deeply connected. Each heart is filled with sacred symbols—sun, deer, peyote—and carries spiritual meaning far beyond its aesthetic.

The San Pablito Tapestry

Embroidered by women in San Pablito Pahuatlán and Tenango de Doria, this tapestry tells stories through vibrant imagery: birds, flowers, butterflies. Even more special, it's a collective creation—families working side by side, stitching together generations of tradition.

The Mayan Hammock

Woven in Yucatán using centuries-old techniques, this hammock is more than just an accent piece. In many Mayan homes, it’s the main bed. It invites you to rest, to sway, to pause… to slow down.

The “Nest” Lamp

Made from wicker by former inmates as part of a social reintegration project, this lamp is more than just design—it’s a symbol of renewal, dignity, and second chances through craftsmanship.

The Tiles

The bathroom tiles are handmade in Mérida using a 19th-century method. Each color and design are applied by hand—an art form preserved and proudly displayed in the room.

The Volcanic Stone Tub

Carved from a single block of volcanic rock; this monolithic tub also functions as a jacuzzi. Its shape and texture make bathing feel like a private wellness ritual. Just fill it, add some bubbles, and activate the jets. Pure bliss, right on the terrace of your suite.

Small touches that make a big impression

Beyond the stunning design and materials, what really sets each suite apart are the small, thoughtful gestures. The kind you don’t expect—but won’t forget.

The Living Bromeliad

No plastic flowers here. Each suite features a live bromeliad, part of the same family as the pineapple, grown in Xcaret’s Orchid and Bromeliad Greenhouse. The plant comes in a hand-painted Talavera ceramic pot from Puebla or Tlaxcala—two regions known for preserving this iconic Mexican craft.

The Jellyfish Aquarium

Yes, really. In your suite, you’ll find jellyfish—gracefully floating in their own little aquarium. They’re bred at Xcaret’s Marine Life Lab, which you can visit during your stay. It’s an unexpected detail that adds a serene, otherworldly element to the space.

Basket of traditional Mexican sweets

Every night, a small handmade basket appears on your bed. Woven in Campeche from jipijapa palm, it holds a rotating selection of traditional sweets: tamarind, alegrías, cocadas. A heartfelt gesture that feels like a nightly gift.

Organic bath amenities

High-quality, eco-friendly products—shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap—all thoughtfully chosen. Even the soap comes with a message: mount the new one on top of the used piece to reduce waste. Little touches, big intention.

Aromatherapy candle

In the bathroom, you’ll find a candle with a soft, relaxing scent—yours to light or take home as a souvenir. The fragrance is subtle, never overpowering, designed to enhance the atmosphere with calm and comfort.

Reusable thermos for park adventures

Each guest gets a sleek, reusable thermos you can take to any of Xcaret’s parks to refill with purified water. A simple, elegant way to stay hydrated and eco-conscious throughout your stay.

Personalized service where everything flows

At La Casa de la Playa, service is intuitive and non-intrusive. Discreet, efficient, and tailored to you. “Todo Fluye” (Everything Flows) isn’t just a slogan—it’s a philosophy that shows in every detail.

Personal Butler

From the moment you arrive, your personal butler is there to assist—without disrupting your space. Whether it’s preparing a bath, setting up the sleeper sofa, or helping with reservations, they’re always available, but never in the way.

In-room dining and discreet service cabinet

Ordering room service doesn’t mean someone has to knock. If your “Do Not Disturb” sign is on, meals and amenities are placed in a discreet service cabinet located just outside your door. You can access it from inside the room—no need to be interrupted.

Intuitive Technology

Use Apple TV to explore dining options, book experiences, or simply unwind with your favorite show. Curtains adjust from a touch panel by the bed, and the bathroom glass can go from clear to opaque with the press of a button. Seamless, simple, stress-free.

An experience that engages every sense

A stay at La Casa de la Playa is more than just a night in a luxury suite. It’s falling asleep to the sound of the sea while jellyfish drift beside your bed. It’s admiring a lamp made of onyx that looks sculpted by nature itself. It’s enjoying a traditional sweet before bedtime, surrounded by Mexican art and stories.

Everything is designed for you to experience at your own pace. In privacy, with the quiet presence of a team that’s always there—but never seen.

It’s personal, sensory, and deeply human.

So if you’ve ever dreamed of staying somewhere where every detail matters—where culture and luxury live in harmony—La Casa de la Playa is waiting to welcome you home.
