During your vacation in Cancun, everyone wants to experience adventure. If you're one of those people, visiting the Xcaret parks is a safe option.
If you need help deciding which park to visit, I'll explain the difference between Xplor Park and Xplor Fuego. This way, you can choose the experience that suits you best.
Let's start with the name. It's easy to confuse Xplor with "explore" or "xplor xcaret," but they are different parks. Xplor is a theme park of Xcaret, but it's not within Xcaret Park.
Xplor Park and Xplor Fuego are theme parks that offer unique adventure experiences in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Both are in Playa del Carmen, next to Xcaret, Xenses, and the Xcaret Hotels.
Among their main differences are:
Xplor Park is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. It is open Monday to Saturday. The park offers 8 hours of fun during the day. Meanwhile, Xplor Fuego is a night park open from 5:30 pm to 11:00 pm, offering five and a half hours of activities.
If you visit Xplor Park, the experience is visually stunning. Explore Riviera Maya's stunning nature and the park's cenote to connect with the jungle's crystal-clear waters.
In Xplor Fuego are torches and flaming hoops on the trails and ziplines. It's a nighttime experience with a different and dark atmosphere.
Xplor Park and Xplor Fuego have the same restaurant called Troglodita. The only difference is the food and drinks, which depend on the time you visit.
Similarly, the options vary at the Oasis and Manantial drink and food stations. During the day, you can find juices, smoothies, and fruit ideal for energizing yourself for your adventure in Xplor Park. For the night, a coffee, atole, and tamales can be the perfect way to conclude your visit to Xplor Fuego.
I'll tell you more about these parks so you can get an idea of what the experience is like in each of them.
If you want to see green landscapes and enjoy the warm climate of the Mexican Caribbean, visit this zipline park in Cancun.
The adventure includes unlimited meals, drinks, and six activities (land, water, and air).
The adventure is all-inclusive, with unlimited meals and drinks and six activities (land, water, and air).
This place becomes more beautiful at night. It is filled with sounds and torches. The park transforms into a stunning stage by the moon and fire.
Although the activities in Xplor and Xplor Fuego are the same, the emotions they generate are very different.
You can decide where to start your day or night in both parks without set itineraries. With the park's traffic light system, you'll know how many people are at each attraction and can plan your visit accordingly.
Each activity has cameras to capture your best moments. You can buy the photos later.
The park's ziplines offer amazing views from above, giving you a thrilling experience in Mexico. And in case you were wondering, "How long is the Xplor zipline?" Let me tell you, it's 137 ft. , perfect for facing your fear of heights.
If you're a fan of the jungle's green color, the blue sky, and the warm Caribbean climate, Xplor Park is your best choice. If you like looking at the stars and the moon, go to Xplor Fuego for a beautiful and vast experience.
You can see nice things in Riviera Maya. You choose to see the jungle or the starry sky on the zipline.
The experience of Hammock Splashdown in the park's cenote will fascinate you. This activity is a combination of a zipline on a hammock, ideal for practicing before venturing onto the ziplines.
Hammock Splashdown in Xplor Fuego is exciting. Imagine splashing into a cenote without seeing the water, only knowing it's beneath you. You can also do this activity during the day in Xplor Park to cool off a bit.
In Xplor Park, the jungle surrounds you with puddles, caves, and mud. You can see the path and, if lucky, the jungle animals.
In Xplor Fuego, the paths are fun filled; your only guide will be the vehicle's lights and the fire torches inside the caverns. So, get ready and choose your best driver.
To drive amphibious vehicles in both parks, you must be of legal age and show a valid official ID proving your age. Also, it's necessary to have previous driving experience. Remember that this is for your safety and the safety of other visitors.
This activity in both parks will impress you the most. The river swim, with a depth of 44 inch., has crystal-clear blue waters that give you a relaxing atmosphere during the day.
In Xplor Fuego, the water turns red at night. Additionally, the entrance is filled with smoke. This makes you feel like you're about to enter a river of lava.
It's important to mention that the average water temperature in both rivers is around 24 degrees, and they have a length of 1, 311 ft.
The sound of water in the caves on this 40-minute, 1, 312 ft. miles ride is exciting.
This tour has three activities:
- Walking in clear water
- Overcoming obstacles on land and water
- Sliding down a slide into an underground river
The only difference between both parks is the lighting inside and outside the cave.
This activity requires coordination and patience. Although it seems easy, rowing and staying in motion requires perseverance to cross the 1, 870 ft.
I suggest doing this activity after you eat or have dinner so you can enjoy it slowly and without feeling rushed.
Also, like in the underground rivers, the water glows blue during the day and red at night.
Xplor Park and Xplor Fuego are in the Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo. They are 35 mi. from Cancun International Airport, specifically on Federal Highway 307 at 175 mi. They are 4 miles south of Playa del Carmen and 34 miles north of Tulum.
To reach the parks, you can do so in various ways:
- Adding round-trip transportation: You can include transportation when purchasing your park entry.
- Inquiring about hotel pick-up: Check if your hotel is on the pick-up list or find the nearest departure points.
- Driving: If you decide to go, the park provides free parking.
- Public transportation: You can also reach the parks by using public transport from Cancun or Playa del Carmen.
As these are adventure parks with terrestrial, aquatic, and aerial activities, I recommend bringing:
- Comfortable swimsuit
- Shorts and a shirt you're willing to get wet
- Water shoes or closed-toe shoes you're eager to get wet
- Extra change of clothes; you'll need it
- Small towels (as the park doesn't provide them)
- Biodegradable repellent and sunscreen
Don't wear sandals or Crocs. It's for your safety and the safety of others, so you can't join in activities.
