It’s early in the year. Along with our resolutions, we must bring to the table our plans for traveling and vacations. In this post, you will find the holidays and festive days of Mexico and U.S. so you can choose the best time of the year to travel. Keep an eye on these days!

If you read us from outside Mexico, we use to move the holidays to the closest Monday. This gives us the opportunity to have an extra day in the weekend, which promotes tourism in Mexico.

  • January
    • Monday 21st. Martin Luther King day.  (3rd Monday of the month)
  • February
    • Monday 4th. First long weekend in Mexico. Celebrating the Mexican Constitution Day (February 5th).
    • Thursday 14th. Valentines Day. It’s not a national day but anyway write it on your calendar.
  • March
    • Saturday 2nd. Spring Break season!
    • Monday 18th. Another long weekend in Mexico! We celebrate the birth of Benito Juárez (March 21st).
    • Thursday 21st. Spring Equinox.

  • April
    • Sunday 1st. April fool’s day (beware of the pranks).
    • Monday 15th. Holy days vacation starts in Mexico.
    • Friday 19th. Good Friday.
    • Sunday 21th. Easter. These days are part of the Catholic traditions holidays in Mexico, but they are not national days.
    • Monday 22nd. Easter Monday.
  • May
    • Wednesday 1st. Workers Day in Mexico. It is the only festive day that doesn’t move for a long weekend.
    • Sunday 5th, a commemoration of the battle of Puebla in Mexico.
    • Sunday 12th. Mother’s Day. (In Mexico, we celebrate mothers day on May 10th).
    • Monday 27th. Memorial Day. It is celebrated on the last Monday of the month.
  • June
    • Sunday 16th. Fathers Day. 3rd Sunday in June, the same as in Mexico.
  • July
    • Thursday 4th. U.S. Independence Day.
    • Saturday 22th. Summer break begins.

We don’t have any three day weekend or holiday during August.

  • September
  • October
    • October 14th. Colombus Day. Commemorates the date when Christopher Columbus first set foot in the Americas. (Second Monday of October).
    • Thursday 31st. Halloween.
  • November
    • Friday 1st. All Saint’s Day in Mexico.
    • Saturday 2nd. Day of the Dead. It is one of the most popular holidays in Mexico. However, it is not considered a Federal day.
    • Monday 11th. Veterans Day.
    • Thursday 28th. Thanksgiving day.
    • Friday 29th. Black Friday.

But, why do we celebrate the dead?

  • December
    • Wednesday 25th. Christmas Day.
