Xcaret or Xel-Há? Discover Which One to Visit
Discover the attractions of both parks
Choose the best attraction for you and your family
Xcaret or Xel-Há? Which one to visit? If you are about to visit the destination, you are probably in that dilemma. Let us tell you that both parks are worth visiting if you travel alone, as a couple or with family.
However, we know that many times the vacation time is not so extensive to visit all the attractions of Cancun and the Riviera Maya, that is why in this blog post we will share with you information about both parks that will help you make a decision.
In both parks, you will be surrounded by incredible natural scenarios, and you will be in contact with nature.
In Xel-Há, this contact with nature has more to do with aquatic scenarios, because the main attraction is snorkeling. However, you can also walk through the jungle trails and encounter the local fauna. While in Xcaret you can see colorful fish in the Coral Reef Aquarium, look at the butterflies in the Butterfly Pavilion or learn more about sea turtles.
If we talk about culture in Xcaret, we are talking about traditions and love for Mexico. The whole park is like a tribute to our country. From its haciendas, its chapels to the Xcaret México Espectacular, which is a journey through the history of our country. In Xel-Há you can discover how the Mayans lived by observing the model of Tulum and you can also learn about the Mayan ceremony of the melipona bee, as well as the uses and customs of that beautiful civilization.
In Xel-Há the main action is the snorkeling where you can see beautiful colorful fish, but not only that, you can float down to the river. If you are brave enough, you can jump from the Cliff of Courage, slide down from the Scenic Lighthouse or fly in the Salpichangas (zip lines). In Xcaret, you can enjoy its refreshing underground rivers or swim in its beautiful inlet.
Both parks have an exclusive fun space for children called Children’s World, where kids can slide down in water slides, swim in small wading pools and cross over hanging bridges. We are sure that the little ones can enjoy either of the two parks.

Other important points to consider when deciding which park to visit are the location and the food plan.
In the case of Xcaret, it is located 15 minutes from Playa del Carmen and there are several transportations that leave you at the entrance of the park. In terms of food, Xcaret has two types of tickets, a basic one which doesn’t include food and the Plus ticket which includes a buffet meal, a beer, and flavored waters.
